Economic development is a team effort! PEP partners with incredible resources on the local, state and federal levels. In addition to strong support from our local businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofits, a few of our key teammates are listed below.

City of Powell

Maintaining a strong relationship with our City is a high priority for PEP, as an official economic development organization for the City of Powell. From communications with the City Planning & Zoning Commission to active engagement with the City Economic Development Loan Fund, we are fortunate to have a City that prioritizes economic and community development.

Manufacturing Works

From energy audits to leadership training, Manufacturing Works supports through innovation. Their regional engineer is based in Powell and actively works with our businesses – retail to manufacturing.

Northwest College Center for Training & Development

Northwest College and Northwest College Center for Training & Development are a great asset to our community. They support our local businesses and workforce development through growing industrial training programs. Additionally, they bring a vibrant cultural aspect to Powell.

Park County

Park County has strong leadership at its core and supports local economic development efforts for Powell through PEP. Additionally, they support regional efforts by the leading economic development organizations in the County.

Powell, Inc.

Powell, Inc. is a corporation formed by community leaders in the late 60’s. They have supported economic development through providing assistance for real estate and building transactions. Most recently they supported efforts to increase the amount of low-income housing for the City of Powell.

Powell Valley Chamber of Commerce

PEP and the Powell Chamber have a great working relationship. With missions that both support our existing businesses, there are many opportunities for cooperation of efforts. An example of working together is the joint initiative to survey and systematically collect information from our local businesses to better understand Powell’s business climate from the business owners themselves.

Procurement Technical Asisstance Center

A service provided by Wyoming Entrepreneur, the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is an excellent resource for businesses that would like to or currently contract with local, state and federal government agencies for products/services. PTAC can help with application processes and they can also do research to understand the amount of government work available for a particular industry.

University of Wyoming

Powell hosts a University of Wyoming (UW) research facility for agriculture with a local farm and extension office, just a few miles north of town. Additionally, the University gives our businesses access to their Market Research Center. Another program offered by UW is their support of businesses that may be thinking about applying for the Small Business Innovation Research grants offered by the SBA. These applications are quite rigorous and the support that UW provides is critical for a successful application.

USDA Rural Development

USDA Rural Development has over 70 programs for rural communities, such as Powell. These programs are a mix of opportunities for the City and for businesses. The Wyoming agents are active and accessible.

WIDC Frontier CDC

The WIDC Frontier is the community development center in Wyoming that actively makes SBA504 loans for small businesses. WIDC Frontier partners with local lenders to help mitigate their risk for startup and existing businesses.

Wyoming Business Council

The Wyoming Business Council (WBC) is the economic development organization for the State of Wyoming. Their programs support Powell and PEP. They are a valuable partner in our local economic development efforts. With the local regional director based in Powell, we feel a particularly close connection to the WBC.

Wyoming Economic Development Association

The Wyoming Economic Development Association (WEDA) provides training & support for PEP and other economic development entities in the State. One of the key ways that they impact our local community is through their legislative efforts. WEDA actively supports and/or opposes legislation that does not fall in line with their strong, guiding principles.

Wyoming Entrepreneur-Small Business Development Center

The amount of resources available through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are too many to list! Their regional director has a Powell-based office and is readily accessible for assistance to our local businesses. From business plan analysis to training opportunities, their resources benefit both startup and existing businesses. Some of the lesser known services, but extremely valuable, include succession planning (exit strategy), website optimization and business valuations.

Wyoming Smart Capital Network

The City of Powell stepped up as one of 17 municipalities in the State of Wyoming to be part of the Wyoming Smart Capital Network (WSCN). This membership gives our local lenders access to one more economic development tool to help mitigate risk and make good projects happen.

Wyoming Workforce Services

Wyoming Workforce Services provides many helpful resources to employers, but the most accessed one locally is the Workforce Development Training Fund. This training fund provides financial assistance to Wyoming employers for their workforce to attend education and training opportunities that are crucial to their industry and careers. PEP has assisted many businesses in accessing this funding for their employees.

Forward Cody

PEP and Forward Cody are the two leading economic development organizations for Park County and they actively collaborate on projects to benefit the citizens of Powell, Cody and Park County. Open dialog is a regular occurrence regarding workforce development, transportation and regional economic development activity.
