Entrepreneurs like you are the heart of the Powell Valley. From manufacturing to restaurant, the seeds of a local startup business are planted year-round here in the fields, in our schools and on main street. There is an abundance of local support, including PEP, Northwest College and a host of other partners.Your startup businesses is a priority for PEP. We are in the early stages of the development of a regional program, the Gateway Entrepreneurship Institute (GEI). There is not one physical location for GEI, but rather it is the formalization of key partnerships to address the challenges that face nearly all entrepreneurs, especially those just getting started. Mentorship, Innovation, Community, and Access to Capital are the four main ingredients for a successful entrepreneur and thus make up the core of the GEI.
Financing is one of the key components to any successful project. PEP believes firmly in first collaborating with our local lenders , but often a startup business is a too risky for traditional finance, either in part or whole. With a variety of financial economic development tools and knowledgeable partners available, PEP can be a great resource to help identify and put the startup financing puzzle pieces in place for you.

Even the smartest and most successful entrepreneurs have a team of advisors/mentors that they can count on. Mentorship is a key component of the Gateway Entreprneurship Intitute, and if you are looking to add some team members or start your team, connecting through PEP may be the way to go. A mentor can be a formally trained PEP mentor that has the precise skills and talents that you are looking for, or you may find an inspiring and innovative spirit at one of our upcoming networking events that becomes a mentor for your startup.
PEP worked with us to get our project through the planning and zoning process! They were a critical partner in getting our building started and our business up and running!

An innovative idea can come to you at any time, and we have the resources locally to help you determine if your idea can go all the way. You may start with an analysis of the local market through a market research study from the University of Wyoming Market Research Center. Or perhaps Manufacturing Works can help you understand your path to success. Soon, you may choose to access the latest technology through the Innovation Lab that is being developed by PEP and Northwest College. This space will be dedicated to thinkers like you that may need to make a prototype. Don't worry, it will be staffed with technically able staff to bring your idea to life on a 3D printer.
